European Open & Women’s Club Cup 2024 – Official invitation

The 39th European Club Cup and the 28th European Women’s Club Cup will be held from 19th-27th October 2024 in Vrnjacka Banja, Serbia.

The events will be played in 7 rounds, swiss system, with the time control of 90 minutes for 40 moves, plus 30 minutes until the end of the game, with 30-second increment for each move starting from the move one.

The teams in the Open competition shall be composed of six (6) players plus two (2) reserves, all of whom must be members of the club and were entitled to play for the club in the national team championship of the federation, which was organized within one year before the start of the current European Club Cup. However, players who are foreigners to the federation in which the national team championship is organized, must have played at least two games in this championship. Foreigners are defined as those who are either belonging to another federation in the FIDE Rating List valid at the start of the national team championship or have a permanent residence outside the federation in which this national team championship is organized. National Players who competed in the last national team championship with another club are also subject to fees.

The teams in the Women’s championship shall be composed of four (4) players plus one (1) reserve player. There is no restriction on the composition and all female player’s license fees are waived for the year 2024.

The official playing venue of the event will be Hotel Zepter Congress Hall and Fontana Hotel.

Each National federation listed as the ECU member is allowed to take part in this competition. According to the regulations, the participation is open to:

  • Five (5) clubs per federation in which a national team championship is organized or four (4) clubs per federation in which no national team championship is organized. There is no restriction how the clubs will be selected by the National Federations.
  • Any additional request for participation should be examined by the ECU Board.
  • In the Women’s competition, all the club members of the ECU Federations are allowed to participate.
  • Clubs shall be registered through the National Chess Federations or directly if there is no objection from the National Chess Federation.

Tournament schedule:

Every federation that intends to participate, with one or more clubs, must inform the Organizing Committee before August 1st 2024 of its acceptance of the invitation, specifying the exact number of the clubs participating. A copy should be sent to the ECU Tournament Director Mr. Petr Pisk petr.pisk@centrum.cz. Afterwards, entry forms must be completed and sent to the tournament e-mail: office@clubcup2024.com no later than August 15th 2024.

The teams and accompanying persons shall stay in one of the official hotels of the championships: ****Hotel Zepter Vrnjacka Banja, ****Vrnjacke Terme Hotel, ****Fontana Hotel, ****Tonanti Hotel, ****Kralj Hotel, and ***Breza Hotel.

Transfer from Ariport “Nikola Tesla” Belgrade (BEG) and Airport “Constantin the Great” Nis (INI) to the official hotels & venue will be arranged by the Organizing Committee. These transport services will be available on 19th October 2024 (arrival) and on 26/27th October 2024 (departure).
