European School Chess Championship 2024 starts in Limerick, Ireland

The European School Chess Championship 2024 is set to take place from 31 May to 7 June in Limerick, Ireland.

The event is played in 6 age categories: U7, U9, U11, U13, U15, and U17, open and girls sections separately, with 9-swiss rounds, and the time control of 90 minutes for the whole game + 30-second increment for each move, starting from the move one.

More than 190 players coming from 18 European federations registered for the event and the top seeds are: GU7 Maria-Ioana Ramureanu (ROU, 1609), U7 Aronsson Birnir Blaer (ISL), GU9 Anne Sophie Constantin-Ciuntu (ROU, 1761), U9 Sreeyan Andhurthi (IRL, 1684), GU11 Emma Cretescu (ROU, 1758), U11 Ali Poyraz Uzdemir (TUR, 1896), GU13 Arya Aydogan (TUR, 1756), U13 CM Ali Aper Celik (TUR, 2102), GU15 Maryna Petrenko (UKR, 1991), U15 Barnabas Panda (HUN, 2089), GU17 Lara Putar (IRL, 1983), and U17 IM Adar Tarhan (TUR, 2457).

The first day of the event will start with the Technical meeting which is scheduled for May 31st, at 10:00 (local time). The Opening ceremony of the event follows at 11:00 (local time) and will take place at the University Concert Hall, and the first round commences at 15:00 (local time).

The playing venue of the tournament will be the University of Limerick EG010 Hall.
