European Union Youth Chess Championship 2024 – Round 6 report

EU Youth Chess Championship 2024 is underway. The level of the event is very good – in category U8 is leading Han Nam Pham (FRA, 6 points out of 6 rounds!), in U10 with 5,5 points Konstantin Mueller (GER), in U12 Leo Corral Nehama (FRA, 5 points) and in U14 Hugo Bocquenet-Drouode (FRA, 5 points).

Since beautiful and combative games are seen, the organizers award best games in each category with prize every day. After the first six rounds Aaron-Mathias Dragoi (ROU), Victor Chalampuente (FRA), Amelia Janaszak (POL), Lena Michalska (POL), Han Nam Pham (FRA), Nikola Malchev (BUL), Matvii Bilochenko (POL), Nadezhda Pritulina (EST), Witold Rusek (POL), Daniil Den Gusev (GER), Iris Hamernikova (CZE), Alexandru Ioan Constantinoiu (ROU), Valery P. Petrov (BUL), Daniel Vo (CZE), Vlad Petroff (ROU), Maria Ochkova (BUL), Vojtech Vratny (CZE), Sizhuo Fan (FRA), Justin Michael Fadeev (GER), Zuzana Stara (CZE), Razvan-Mihai Rosu (ROU), Konstantin Mueller (GER), David Meszaros-Csonka (HUN) and Luca Madel (GER) have been awarded.

Additional programme started on Wednesday with a walk to the city park and Wallachian Open Air Museum. On Thursday there was a simultaneous game against IM Petr Pisk. 16 participants of our championship had 30 minutes against 60 minutes on the clocks of IM Pisk. The finale score was 11 – 5 for IM Pisk. Won Alex Moravcik (SVK), Anna Hrckova (CZE) and Daniel Bannoura (CYP), draw was made by Jan Flidr, Jindrich Trejbal, Hana Bartova (all CZE) and Cassandre Itier (FRA).

On Saturday there was a blitz tournament, where 18 players (players of EUYCC, coaches, parents) from 4 countries participated. The winner be­came after a great performance Vojtech Velim (CZE, 9 points out of 9 rounds!) ahead of FM Josef Kratochvil (CZE, 7 points out of 9 rounds) and Petr Broz (CZE, 6,5 points). All winners received nice presents.

Among others leisure time activities, participants of this tournament mostly visit and use wellness, playground and enjoying the beauty of the nature in surroundings.

All games are transmitted on-line, so the parents and trainers either at home or present in the hotel can watch their charges.
