The European Universities Games will take place from 12-24 July in Debrecen-Miskolc, Hungary. Student-athletes will compete in as many as 17 disciplines. This means that up to 4,500 players from all over Europe will take part in the 6th edition of the European Universities Games (EUG).
European Universities Chess Championship 2024 is part of the European Universities Games and will be played from 10-13 July at the University of Miskolc Musicpalace. The event is comprised of four tournaments:
- 1 (one) rapid open team tournament,
- 1 (one) blitz open team tournament,
- 1 (one) women rapid team tournament,
- 1 (one) women blitz team tournament.
Every match in the men’s and women’s competition shall be played over two boards. The players in each team must be listed in a fixed board order. Entries to only one tournament are not allowed.
The format of the tournament will be Swiss system. Time Control in Rapid: 25 (twenty-five) minutes for all moves with an increment of 10 (ten) seconds per move, starting from move 1 (one). Time Control in Blitz: 3 (three) minutes followed by an increment of 2 (two) sec/move, starting from the move 1 (one). The format of the tournament will be decided by CTC taking into consideration the number of teams entered.
All participants as well as the officials (arbiters, captains and others being in the playing area) must comply with the dress code of the European Chess Union.
Participants of the EUG are the students between 17 and 30 years old, from the Universities and similar institutions with status of an institution of higher education recognized by an appropriate national authority of their country. Participants shall be nominated through their NUSA (EUSA Members) and detailed information about the registration can be found on the official website.
