European Youth Chess Championship 2024 is halfway through

Five rounds have already been played at the European Youth Chess Championship 2024 in Prague, Czech Republic with four rounds to go before the announcement of the Winners.

Each age group has emerged leaders, who are closely followed by other players. Today is a free day for the players, and the games continue tomorrow with the 6th round starting at 15:00 CEST.

In section for Girls U8, Lile Svanadze (GEO, 1472) has a sole lead with perfect score of 5/5 points, and Eliza-Ioana Badescu (ROU, 1678) follows with 4.5 points. Markiyan Hanas (UKR, 1652) is in the sole lead of the U8 section with 5/5 points, while Timofei Demchenko (ESP, 1769) and Junyan Hu (ENG, 1720) tie for second with 4.5 points each.

Three players score 4.5 points each to tie for the top of the Girls U10 category: Yuefan Chen (GER, 1682), Mehriban Ahmadli (AZE, 1646) and Rana Bakhshi (FRA, 1732). Boris Kolodziejczyk (FRA, 1983) and Ali Poyraz Uzdemir (TUR, 2008) co-lead Open U10 section with the score of 4.5 points each.

Varvara Matskevich (POL, 1956) has a perfect score in Girls U12 section with the sole leadership, and Anna Hangyal (HUN, 1853) follows with 4.5 points. Tyhran Ambartsumian (ARM, 2156) is the sole leader of Open U12 category, and Valentin Nicot (FRA, 2068) and Wiktor Golis (POL, 2216) trail by half a point.

WFM Kesaria Mgeladze (GEO, 2152) and WFM Marija Kuznecova (LAT, 2174) are the co-leaders in Girls U14 group with maximum 5/5 points, and two players follow them with 4.5 points each: WFM Vera Vujovic (SRB, 2175) and WCM Lala Huseynova (AZE, 1984). FM Bayarjavkhlan Delgerdalai (CZE, 2278) emerged as the sole leader of U14 category with 5/5 points, and four players follow scoring 4.5 points each: FM Pawel Sowinski (POL, 2463), FM Havard Haug (NOR, 2315), FM Mykola Korchynskyi (UKR, 2312), and IM Vaclav Finek (CZE, 2467).

Klara Szczotka (POL, 2053) leads in the Girls U16 category with the score of 5/5 points, and WCM Mariam Tsetskhladze (GEO, 2040) and WCM Elif Zeren Yildiz (TUR, 1934) score 4.5 points each. As many as seven players tie for the top of the Open U16 section scoring 4.5 points each: IM Marco Materia (FRA, 2457), FM Filip Magold (ROU, 2425), IM Can Durak (TUR, 2442), FM Lorenzo Perea Fruet (ESP, 2373), IM Aksel Bu Kvaloy (NOR, 2487), FM Javier Habans Aguerrea (ESP, 2395), and FM Benik Agasarov (ARM, 2387).

WFM Orian Noga (ISR, 2201) emerged as the sole leader of the Girls U18 category with 5/5 points, while eight players tie for second scoring 4 points each. FM Balazs Pasztor (HUN, 2402) scores 4.5 points in Open U18 category to be in the sole lead, and as many as 12 players follow him scoring 4 points each.
