Everything is set for European Youth Rapid, Blitz and Classical Chess Championships 2024 which start tomorrow in Prague, Czech Republic.
The first event on the schedule is European Youth Rapid Chess Championship 2024, being played from 17-18 August. The event is played in six age categories: U8, U10, U12, U14, U16 and U18, open and girls sections separately. Each section will have 9 rounds played according to the swiss system, with the time control of 15 minutes + 10 seconds increment.
European Youth Blitz Chess Championship 2024 will take place from 19-20 August and also features six age categories: U8, U10, U12, U14, U16, and U18, open and girls sections separately. The events are played in 9 double rounds, swiss system, with the time control of 3 minutes + 2 seconds increment.
Nearly 700 players coming from 40 European federations registered for the event, breaking the participation record.

The players will have a chance to compete in the European Youth Solving Problems competitions which are taking place on 18th of August with three age categories: U10, U14 and U18, open and girls sections separately. European Team Youth Rapid Chess Championship 2024 is scheduled for 19th of August, with three age groups: U10, U14 and U18 (open and girls separately). The tournament will be played in 7 rounds, swiss system, with time control of 15 minutes + 10 seconds increment.
European Youth Classical Chess Championship 2024 follows from 21st August to 1st September with nearly 1250 participants representing 47 European federations. The event will be played in 6 age sections U8, U10, U12, U14, U16 and U18, open and girls sections separately, with 9 rounds (swiss system) in each competition. The time control of the event is 90 minutes with 30 seconds increment for each move, starting from the move one.
The Winners in each age section will become the European Youth Chess Champions of the respective age category. The first three players in each group will be awarded cups and medals and the first five players in each group will be awarded cups, diplomas and valuable prizes. Each participant will receive presents.

All tournaments are played in ****TOP Hotel Praha, which is also one of the official hotels of the Championships.
The European Youth Chess Championship 2024 will be live broadcasted and live commentaries by GM Alojzije Jankovic and special guests can be exclusively followed through the ECU YouTube channel.
